February is known in the North Country as the “Cold Month”. Groundhog Day is a little marked occasion. We know that we are most likely in for at least six more weeks of winter, whether the little fellow sees his shadow or not.!
However all is not bleak winter. February brings skiing and snowshoeing, as well as Valentine’s Day. We have warm woolen hats and mittens as well as our exquisite pashmina (Kashmir) wraps to ward off winter chills. For those heading South to warmer climes we have blouses, skirts and sarongs in a festive rainbow of colours. !
Also on now is our annual “Hearts&Flowers” Valentine’s Sale. 10% all merchandise in the shop that has hearts or flowers. Think of it as a scavenger hunt. If you can find a heart or flower hiding in the shape, decoration or motif – we will give you the discount. !
New to the shop is more jewelry, including some delightful earrings from Maggie’s Frankenclothes Designs. We have brought in the rest of our mask collection, including some very interesting and unique tribal shamanic masks. !
Those with a sweet tooth will be pleased to know we are now offering Ithaca Fine Chocolates Art Bars. These are delicious fair trade organic chocolates, which are soy free and vegan to boot. Truly a guilt free indulgence. Each bar comes with a card bearing a reproduction of a work by a contemporary artist and a portion of sales goes to fund art education. The artists include professional artists and talented amateurs, both adults and children have works on display. !
We were pleased to host a very successful reading by the St. Lawrence Area Poets (SLAP). Some twenty people attended and read a wide selection of works. We hope to host more readings in future. !
We also hosted a Chamber of Commerce membership breakfast and ribbon cutting to welcome us to Potsdam. This was catered by Scoops, a local eatery who provided scratch made pastries and breakfast wraps. !
As always we offer tea and treats to all who stop in for a visit.!
